Girls Camp

The Tuesday after school got out, I went to girls camp. It was a fun year. Because there will be EFY this year, it was just our ward that did it. Our theme was Fearless Hearts. We got shirts there that have our theme on it and there were "Stripling warriors" that some of the classes made. :) They were conveniently a good example of fearless hearts :) We went to a place called Camp Silver Creek. We borrowed canoes from the stake and went canoeing quite a bit. It was pretty great. Most everybody was at least a little sunburned when we went home. It was really nice, because normally they always have like a million activities for us to do and instead of having free time, we would just have some random thing that was required like camp certification. This year, we did the certification before girls camp and it let us have TONS more free time. I loved it. You could actually talk to the people that weren't your age and you could have time to go on the canoes and swimming. I liked it. One of the things that we did was the "war" that you needed the fearless hearts for, so, we had a marshmellow gun war and had our faces painted and everything. :) It was WAY fun. They told us beforehand that if we wanted extra "ammo" we could bring marshmellows. We made guns and the whole shibang. It was fun ;)

Another thing that I really liked was the fact that we went on a hike. It was B-E-A-Utiful!! It was even better because Stephanie and i have about the same pace for walking on hikes, so we were with one of our leaders in the front the whole time who also had a good pace. Since we were in front, we could go on the "scenic routes" if we wanted to. It was fun going across more bridges than really planned and going around to see cool places in the trail. Here are some pictures that i took on the way.

Ooohhh you better not mess with Steph! She'll take you out! ;)
Trust me its even better in person

The creek had tons of places that looked like this, and it was SO pretty! :)
This is all of the girls that weren't too lazy to get into the picture at girls camp.

Other than the hike, another highlight at girls camp was our guest speaker. Her name was Kalle Flake. She truly was an example of a fearless heart. She inherited a disease that literally is deteriorating her body. (i can't remember what it is called.) Its a progressive disease that takes away her sight, sense of balance and a few other things. She found out she had it when she was about in Jr. high. Now, she is blind, can't walk and has some other problems from this disease. It was really cool though, because sh knew that even though she had some physical problems, she didn't let that get in her way of life. She had an eternal perspective and knew that God loves her and she will have everything in the next life. It was really cool.

Well those are just a few highlights from girls camp, but that's pretty much the scoop about it. :) It was really fun and i hope it is just as good next year.
